Laura’s own description of her pieces as ‘documentary reportage textile art work’ perfectly captures the theme of this display, which will show the everyday clothes and fashions that people wear, but captured and expressed in a unique and beautiful way.’ -Rosemary Harden, Exhibition curator

‘The exhibition Material Evidence brings together four artists- whose work reflects the importance of making and materials in contemporary art. They represent a new wave of artists and makers with a fresh take on the boundaries between art and craft. By exploring a range of processes, each artist reveals an affinity for working with the physicality of the textile medium in a fresh and exciting way.’ - Jo Hall, Exhibition curator.

The Embroiderer's Eye - the Diana Springall Collection

The Diana Springall Collection represents work from several decades of modern embroidery's recent history that did not receive mainstream attention at the time of their creation. Today, they act as reminders of a number of individuals who chose, and have continued, to work with materials and ideas that communicate a range of emotions and themes. This exhibition and accompanying book, celebrate some of the very best of modern British embroidery.

Lady with flower stall, is part of this exciting and unique collection. A big thank you to Diana for all her effort, support and enthusiasm.

May-July 2009

Solo exhibition: The Lost Generation

The Wallner Gallery, Lakeside, Nottingham University
30th May-30th June 2009
www.lakesidearts.org.uk

After the touring of the work between Bath and Runcorn, the work will return to Nottingham where it will be exhibited through the summer in the Wallner Gallery. I am very excited about showcasing new examples of my large-scale artwork. I also plan to launch a new collection of work that highlights the danger of us becoming the lost generation; in a digital age it is becoming harder to permanently hold onto all our images as they are deleted, corrupted, stolen on laptops and mobile phones.
