Laura McCafferty

While in Tokyo in March 2007 for the exhibition organised by Design Factory; I had a meeting with Cibone, a Design Shop. This led on to three of my images being licenced by Cibone for the project Souvenir From Tokyo. The project was showcased in their Gallery Shop at The National Art Centre Tokyo. Many of the products and postcards had been completed by artists and designers from outside Japan; designers who had visited the country and taken inspiration. It was an interesting concept- There was western style ties made from Kimono fabric and Russian Dolls painted with Japanese figures. The pieces that were used were inspired by my research trip to Tokyo in 2006 with Design Factory. It was a proud moment to have work in such a prestigious gallery!
