Over the last Six months I have been developing new work. I will show a collection of this new work. The theme of the work will be ‘Out of Place’. I’m exploring drawing in its broadest sense, using print, embroidery and textiles. Working in the context of the everyday and the mundane. I obsessively gather images of incidental peculiarities from the ordinary, Art history, Contemporary Art and Popular Culture. Through drawing I construct realities from these varied sources, creating spaces that sit poised on the threshold of narrative. I want to set up tensions between the trivial and serious as a way of challenging perceptions. Through an interdisciplinary approach to making work I explore the subversive potential of textiles, the decorative and subtly mess with what’s expected.
